Stone Faces and Monoliths of Ngerchelong



The stone monoliths Ngerchelong were carved by gods at the bottom of the sea for a Bai in Ngerchelong state. Two magicians heard the noise and decided to investigate. One manifested a rooster that crowed until sunlight illuminated the area, the other created the sun. After which work on the stones stopped because the gods would only work in the dark.

(Roosters area common theme. …And they’re everywhere. You become keenly aware of that fact in the wee hours of the morning.)
